Switzerland’s star tennis player Roger Federer entered the semi-finals of the first Grand Slam Australian Open of the year after registering a stunning victory on Tuesday. Federer, who has won the Australian Open 2020 title six times. Reached the semifinals of this tournament for the 15th time in a career of 17 years.

Federer defeated American Tennis Sandgren 6-3, 2-6, 2-6, 7-6 (8), 6-3 in the men’s singles quarter-final. The 38-year-old Federer has won 102 games at the Australian Open 2020 so far. But this game will be his most memorable game to date.

Federer said after the win, ‘You have to be lucky sometimes. Those seven match points are not under my control. I was just hoping that he might miss one or two shots. He played his match and I was lucky.

In the semi-finals, Federer will face the winner of the quarter-final match between Novak Djokovic of Second Seed Serbia and Milos Raonic of 32nd Seed Canada.

Federer, a 20-time Grand Slam champion, has an all-time career record of 23–26 against Djokovic. Swiss players have lost three matches to Djokovic in Melbourne. And all these matches have lost in the semi-finals. Which took place in 2008, 2011 and 2016. Djokovic, however, has a career record of 11–3 against Raonic and has defeated Raonic in this tournament in 2013.
