Mercedes-Benz is all set to launch the locally assembled S-Class 2021 luxury sedan in India on October 7. Due to the local assembly, the price of this particular product from the German auto giant is likely to be much lower than the current model’s price. Mercedes-Benz had earlier launched the S-Class in India for Rs 2.17 crore (ex-showroom). The launch edition of the Mercedes S-Class was brought to India via the CBU route. All the 150 units were booked soon after the official launch.
Mercedes S Class 2021 Launch in India
The Mercedes S-Class competes with the ultra-luxury sedans BMW 7-Series and Audi A8 in its segment. The specifications of the made-in-India Mercedes S-Class are yet to be shared. The company is likely to reveal these on October 7. However, it is not expected to see much change but what will change is the price tag, which is expected to come down substantially due to local production.
The engine of the Mercedes S-Class
The Mercedes S-Class 2021 is currently offered in two variants: the S 400d and 450 4MATIC variants. It is powered by six-cylinder petrol and diesel engines. The engine can produce between 330 hp and 367 hp. Peak torque is between 500 Nm and 700 Nm. Both can achieve a top speed of 250 kmph and 0 to 100 kmph in just five seconds.
The best features can be found in the Mercedes S-Class.
For the first time on the S-Class in India, a sporty AMG line could come with exteriors and 20-inch alloy wheels. Despite having good drive figures, the S-Class is much better in the rear seat drive experience. The 2021 S-Class sedan gets a 12.8-inch central infotainment system with an OLED display. It comes with a 12.3-inch 3D driver display in portrait alignment. Dual-screen gives an immersive visual experience.
MBUX also gets 320 GB internal storage and 16 GB RAM. This means that the vehicle owner can store multiple movies in the car’s infotainment system and watch them on the go. MBUX also gets an over-the-air or OTA software update facility.
