The new Tata Tigor EV will be officially launched in the country on August 31 and can take the electric vehicle movement in India to the masses. Tata Tigor EV Design
The design of the electric sub-compact sedan has been given a facelift in line with the updated Tiago and Altroz. The car gets a redesigned front fascia along with sleek projector headlamps. The front grille and front bumper have also been updated. The wheels of the alloy wheels come in blue colour, which reflects the zero-emission character of the subcompact sedan.
Cabins and Features
The cabin of the updated Tigor EV gets an updated design as compared to the outgoing model. Like the Nexon EV, blue accents have been given on the dashboard and seats. Connected to the Harman audio system is a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system. It also gets more than 30 connected car features. Other features include electrically adjustable ORVMs, silent cabin, automatic climate control etc., push-start button.
Tata Motors has started booking the updated Tigor EV for an amount of Rs 21,000. The updated electric Sportback is expected to be priced competitive when the automaker announces its pricing on August 31.
The new Tigor EV gets the Automobile brand’s Ziptron technology, which delivers better performance than the existing Tigor EV. The new Tigor EV gets an IP67 rated 26 kWh lithium-ion battery pack along with an electric motor. The electric powertrain generates power of 73.75 hp and torque of 170 Nm. The new Tigor EV can accelerate from 0-60 kph in 5.7 seconds. The carmaker claims that the new battery pack comes with tailor-made thermal management.
Charging and safety features
Tata Motors claims that the battery can also be charged using a fast charger and 15A home socket. The quick charger will charge the battery up to 80% in an hour. It takes 8 hours for the storm to charge up to 80% at home. It is being claimed about the new Tigor EV that it is equipped with many safety features. These include dual airbags, ABS with EBD, corner stability control, hill ascent control, hill descent control. Apart from this, the car has been given a high strength structure.
