Auto Booking Via Ola Uber Will Become Expensive, From January 1

Ola Uber Will Become Expensive 2022: The new year brings multiple doses of inflation for ordinary people. Taxes (GST) on many goods and services will increase from January 1. Some things and services that have remained outside the purview of tax till now have also been made taxable. This change will be heavy on the pockets of people who use the services of App-Based Cab Service Provider like Ola or Uber.

These decisions of the GST Council will be implemented in the new year.

The GST Council took some big decisions regarding tax in the last meeting. These include increasing the rate of GST on Readymade Garments and Shoes from 5 per cent to 12 per cent on readymade clothes and shoes less than Rs 1000 and now on online food orders (GST on Online Food Order) from the delivery service provider instead of the restaurant itself. Includes tax collection. Apart from this, it has now been decided to levy GST on the fare of autos booked through app-based cab service providers.

Ola Uber Will Become Expensive

Chartered Accountant Gaurav Arya (CA Gaurav Arya) said that GST on Radio Taxi was levied on Radio Taxi. Meter and GPS Enabled Taxi used to come under its purview. Cab services of aggregators like Ola and Uber were also under its purview, but auto fares booked through them were kept out of the ambit of GST so far.

Offline auto not taxable yet

This decision of the GST Council will not have any effect on the fare of regular autos. These are still kept out of the purview of GST. CA Gaurav said that the government considers the commuters who book autos from the app as a premium category; now, app-based autos are also being brought under the purview of GST and app-based cabs.

Auto drivers’ arbitrariness may increase.

This government decision is likely to increase the burden on the ordinary people. Till now, commuters preferred to book online to avoid the arbitrariness of auto drivers. Now, this facility is going to be costlier by five per cent. After this change, booking an offline auto can also become expensive. After the tax on online auto booking, auto drivers can now demand more fares in the offline booking.
