The facility of making payments through UPI by scanning the QR code with a Rupay credit card has now started. After introducing this facility, users of RuPay Credit Card will be able to make payments easily in POS machines without swiping or tapping the card.

These three banks just started.

Reserve Bank Governor Shaktikanta Das launched this facility on Tuesday. Experts say that with this facility of the Reserve Bank, the credit card market can increase up to five times. Right now, this facility’s benefit will be first available to the customers of Punjab National Bank, Union Bank of India and Indian Bank.

Experts expect that the payment facility through UPI will soon be started for Rupay cards, MasterCard, and Visa. On the occasion of the launch of the new facility, Nandan Nilekani, non-executive chairman of Infosys, said that RBI has emerged as a world leader in bringing together regulation and innovation.

RBI promoting digital payments

The Reserve Bank (RBI) continuously makes changes to promote digital payment. After the MPC meeting of June (RBI MPC Meet June 2022), the Central Bank said that the payment could be made by linking the credit card to UPI. Then RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das said that the facility of making credit card payments on the UPI platform would provide more options to customers than before.

Such users can also get benefits.

However, Governor Das added that linking credit cards with UPI will start with RuPay Credit Card. Since Mastercard and Visa currently dominate the credit card market, most users are not going to get the facility of making credit card payments through UPI.
