Actor Suriya Gave 10 Lakhs to Rajakannu Wife: The film ‘Jai Bhim’, released on Amazon on Diwali weekend, is getting a lot of appreciation from the critics and the public. The story of ‘Jai Bheem’ was based on the real-life of a person named Rajakannu who belonged to the Irula Tribe.
Rajakannu died in police custody. After which, there was a lengthy legal battle in the nineties regarding this case. Surya has played the lead role in the film ‘Jai Bhim’. According to the news published in The Hindu, now Surya has deposited Rs 10 lakh in the name of Rajakannu’s wife.

Surya said in this regard,
“We want to help Rajakannu’s wife, Parvati Ammal, in such a way that she does not suffer any more for many years to come. That’s why we have deposited ten lakh rupees in Parvati’s account. Parvati can live her life with interest received from this amount. At the same time, we are trying to help the tribal children. There is only one solution to this caste-based discrimination, and that is education”.
This is not the first time that Surya has come forward to help someone. Earlier, Surya donated Rs 1 crore for the education of tribal children. Surya gave this money in the name of a trust in front of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin.
Controversy has also started with the film ‘Jai Bhim’. PMK is a political party. The parent body of PMK (Pattali Makkal Katchi) has sent a legal notice to the makers of ‘Jai Bheem’ and Amazon. They allege that the film has deliberately insulted the Vannier community. However, after the news of sending this notice came out, Surya’s fans also came out in support of the film. After which, #IStandWithSurya started trending on social media.
