Punjabi actor turned activist Deep Sidhu died in a tragic road accident on Tuesday. The 38-year-old actor was active in the farmers’ protest against the repealed central agricultural laws. He died in a road accident near Delhi. He was reportedly accompanied by his girlfriend, Reena Rai. A day before this tragic incident, this couple celebrated Valentine’s Day. According to media reports, Reena Rai is a US-based actress. Sidhu’s co-star in his Punjabi film Rang Punjab (2018). Deep and Reena had earlier promoted the film together in Chandigarh, among other cities. She has worked in Punjabi movies and lives in Mumbai. Some of her Instagram posts also revealed that she had won the Miss South Asia crown in 2014. She will now be seen in an upcoming film Desi starring the late actor. The accident occurred on the Kundli-Manesar-Palwal (KMP) Expressway, passing through the national capital. Police said that Sidhu was going from Delhi to Bathinda in Punjab when his car collided with a trailer truck at 9.30 pm.
Reena Rai, with him in the car, narrowly escaped the accident. According to the police, Sidhu had suffered severe head injuries in the accident. The driver’s side severely damaged his white SUV. Sidhu has been declared brought dead at Kharkhoda Hospital in Haryana’s Sonepat district.
