Aryan Khan was arrested at a rave party on a cruise.
NCB officials had received information that a rave party was going to be held on the cruise. After which, they have recovered many intoxicants like cocaine, MDMA, mephedrone and charas in raids there. Explain that all these accused have been arrested under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
What is NDPS Act
The Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act was enacted in 1985. It is designed for the prevention of any intoxicants. Then, whether it is the production or storage of drugs or its sale and transportation of liquors, the activities related to intoxicants are stopped under this Act. The punishment given in this depends on the quantity of the confiscated narcotics. Explain that precisely one year after enacting this Act, the Narcotics Control Bureau was established under the Sangh.
This crime can be punishable by death.
Let us also tell you that according to Section 31A of this Act, the maximum punishment that can be given is the death penalty. But this punishment under the Act is applicable only when a person is found guilty of being involved with drugs in commercial quantities.
How to get bail?
Bail can be granted only if someone has only consumed prohibited drugs or narcotics but is not involved in any trade related to it. However, for this, the accused also has to sign a bond. Explain that this law, which came into force in 1985, was amended three times – in 1989, 2001 and 2014.
