Sherlyn Chopra Gets Relief From Supreme Court
A bench of Justices Vineet Saran and Aniruddha Bose has issued notice to the Maharashtra government on an appeal filed by Chopra against a Bombay High Court order rejecting his anticipatory bail. “Notice has been issued… In the meantime, no coercive action should be taken against the petitioner,” the bench said.
Advocate Sunil Fernandes, appearing for Sherlyn, had told that other accused in the case have also been given protection from arrest.
In an FIR related to the case, Sherlyn has been accused along with actress Poonam Pandey. The apex court had on January 18 granted protection from arrest to Poonam Pandey. However, the High Court rejected his anticipatory bail application on November 25 2021.
There was also a stay on the arrest of Raj Kundra.
Earlier, there was a stay on the arrest of Raj Kundra, who had been in jail for two months in the pornography case. In December 2021, the Supreme Court had stayed the arrest of Raj Kundra. Raj Kundra is currently out on bail. Raj Kundra was arrested last year under several sections in the pornography case.
Fearing being arrested, Raj Kundra went to the sessions court for interim bail, where his plea was rejected. After that, he went to the High Court. He had claimed that he was being implicated in this case.
Let us tell you that the case of this pornography case came in March last year, in which actress Gehana Vashistha was first arrested. She was followed by the arrest of Shilpa Shetty’s husband, Raj Kundra. During that time, many people were arrested in this case. Now both Jewel and Raj are out on bail in this case. Both have consistently denied the allegations against themselves.
