The Union Cabinet today approved the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission. A fund of Rs 1,600 crore has been approved for this mission for the next five years. A proposal to this effect has been approved in the cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The mission started for quality healthcare.
The government has started this mission to provide quality healthcare to the ordinary people in the country. Under this scheme, the commoner will be able to create his health card number, which has been named Ayushman Bharat Health Account. Digital health records can be linked to this account. Through this account, the database of the health of the citizens will be prepared.
Mission has been implemented in these states.
The pilot project of Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission has been implemented in six union territories of Ladakh, Chandigarh, Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Daman Diu, Puducherry, Andaman and Nicobar Islands and Lakshadweep.

It is worth noting that PM Narendra Modi had announced the launch of the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission on 15 August 2020. On 27 September 2021, this scheme was implemented for the whole country. Under this scheme, citizens will be given a health card after creating an account. This health card will have a complete record of the person’s health.

After making a health card under Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission, citizens will not need to keep their physical medical records. Also, the information of all hospitals and doctors will be stored in this record. The benefit of this mission will be that you will consult any doctor in the country sitting at home. This scheme will bring welfare changes in the health sector.
How to open an account
You will make your account through the Arogya Setu app to create a health card. About 214 million users are active on the Arogya Setu app, who will be able to generate their Ayushman Bharat health account number. This number will be 14 digits; users can link their old and new medical records with this number. At the time of registration, the user has to verify his Aadhaar number.
Along with this, you will also have to fill the information like your name, date of birth, gender and address. If you do not want to create an Ayushman Bharat health account through Aadhaar, you can also open this account using a driving license or mobile number.
