Monsoon Health Tips: Monsoon season can bring relief from the scorching heat, but the risk of infection increases significantly in such a situation. Avoid certain foods, especially during the monsoon season, to stay away from diseases. Eating food infected with bacteria can lead to food poisoning, bloating and can also lower your immunity. Let us find out which foods you should avoid during this time.

Monsoon Health Tips

Mushrooms –   Due to the moisture-laden environment during monsoon, the risk of mushroom insects and bacteria increases significantly. Bacteria thrive in moist air. Mushrooms infected with bacteria may not be visible but can cause stomach infections and diseases. Therefore, it is best to stay away from mushrooms during the rainy season.

Sour Foods – Sour foods like pickles, chutneys, sour candy, tamarind etc., should be avoided during monsoon. Such sour foods can cause water retention in the body, which can make you feel bloated. Sour food can cause sore throat and fever during monsoon.

Roadside Juice –  Juice can provide instant relief in hot and humid weather but can also cause problems. Street vendors usually pre-cut the fruits due to which bacteria can grow. If you want, you can make fruit juice at home, or you can opt for coconut water, jaljeera and lemonade.

Sea Food – Things like fish-prawns should not be eaten by mistake in the monsoon. In such weather, non-veg food should be avoided. Monsoon season is the breeding season for fish and prawns. It is best to avoid seafood for a few days.

Leafy Vegetables –  Even though green vegetables are nutritious for your body, they should be avoided for a few weeks during the monsoon. Vegetables like spinach and cabbage can contain germs due to moisture in the air. Therefore, choose fresh seasonal vegetables and eat properly cooked food.
