Half a dozen goats were sold for election.
Bodi Dutta, an 80-year-old man from ward number 7 of Latani panchayat in East Tundi of Dhanbad district, has sold half a dozen of his goats to become a ward member. This ward is unreserved, and four candidates are in the fray. On the last day of nomination and at the last moment, when Bodi Dutta reached to file nomination, his son also went behind him. He persuaded the father, but he disagreed and was nominated for the ward member at the last moment. However, his nomination got cancelled as he was not a proposer.
Once upon a time, samosas were sold on a handcart.
Bodi Dutta used to sell samosas, potato chops, chickpeas etc., two years ago by placing a cart at Latani Mor. After this, apart from planting greens and vegetables in his turn, he started rearing goats. Wheat and rice were available from the public distribution system shop, and one thousand rupees were also being received under the old-age pension scheme. After that, he did not get down to his old business.
Will develop the area.
Bodi Dutta says that no development work has been done in the ward where he lives; whoever becomes a member of the ward leaves the area’s development and gets involved in his development. This time, he has decided to become a ward member. If he wins the election, he will try to get government benefits for all the poor and elderly like him.
