A shocking case has come to light from Bhilwara in Rajasthan. A bride was driven away by her in-laws because she failed the honeymoon virginity test. After the incident, the police registered a case and started an investigation. It has been made clear that strict action will be taken against the culprits after seriously investigating this matter.
The victim’s mother said that six months ago, her daughter was raped by a young man living in the neighbourhood. She had also threatened to kill her sons; fearing this, she remained silent. Then we got the daughter married on May 11 and sent it to her in-laws’ house. But before the honeymoon in the in-laws’ house, the rituals of Kukdi were done to test her virginity. In which she failed.
Then she told about the rape that happened to her. After this, preparations were made to punish the rape victim by calling a social panchayat against the girl. Taking cognizance of whose information, the State Women’s Commission has sought a report from the Bhilwara District Police in this regard.
The victim says that her parents had gone to the wedding. She had gone for defecation during the night. Then the young man living in the neighbourhood had made him a victim of his lust. There was also a threat to kill both of his brothers for saying anything to anyone. After marriage, when she failed in the cooking practice, she was beaten up by her in-laws and thrown out of the house.
The culprits should get strict punishment. Let us tell you, in the Kukdi system, the newly married couple is given a pot of raw cotton on the first night of marriage. That’s what the virginity test is known for.

On this matter, Bhilwara Superintendent of Police Adarsh Sidhu said that this is a social evil, which the police will try to eliminate through NGOs and social organizations. Instructions have also been issued to stop any social panchayat in this regard. Action is also being taken in the case of rape lodged by the girl against the neighbour.
