Farmers cultivating maize are happy these days. The reason for this is the better price they get for their production. In fact, for the last few years, the farmers have been expecting a fixed price for the maize crop, but this time the situation has changed. For the first time, due to reduced production, maize is getting a higher price than the guaranteed.

Malkapur maize market of Akola district is the primary maize market of the country, where these days maize farmers are getting better prices for their maize. Alam is that at present, the cost of maize is Rs 2,165 per quintal. At the same time, 1 lakh 88 thousand quintals of maize have reached the market this season.

Price is getting more than the price of Nafed; this is the reason.

These days in the Malkapur market committee, farmers are getting 2,165 per quintal of maize due to a decrease in the arrival of maize. Although only a few farmers have got this rate, this rate is more than the rate of Nafed. Nafed has fixed a price of Rs 1,830 per quint. The reason for this is that the district’s farmers had decided to cultivate maize only as a fodder crop last year. This has affected production in the area.

Maize was also affected by the attack of military larva insects.

Maize was being grown on a large scale in Malkapur taluka, but in the last few years, maize crops have been affected due to an infestation of military larva pests. After which, the area’s farmers had decided to change their cropping pattern, and many farmers did not cultivate maize. Because of this, the area under maize in the area decreased. So the production also reduced this time. As a result, farmers are getting record rates.

Farmers in a double profit

Farmers are seeing double the benefits of maize crops this time. That’s why farmers are now emphasising its cultivation. Farmers say that the outbreak of pests on this crop has increased due to climate change. As a result, the production of maize declined, so this year we have got a record rate of 2 thousand 165.

Which is more than what the farmers expected. In such a situation, the farmers are pleased. At the same time, farmers have also used maize as a fodder crop. That’s why farmers are saying that maize is getting double benefits.
