Mumbai Local: 12 Services Of AC Locals On The Main Line Will Increase


Railway Gifts To Mumbai Local Passengers: After reducing the fare of AC local trains by 50 per cent, Railways has given another gift to the local passengers of Mumbai. Given the increasing demand for passengers, the Ministry of Railways has decided to increase the services of AC local trains on the Central Railway line. Railways have decided to shift AC local trains running on the Harbor line to CSMT- Kalyan- Titwala- Badlapur mainline to increase these services.

Railway Gifts To Mumbai Passengers

After this decision of the Ministry of Railways, 12 services of AC locals will increase on the mainline, and the total number will increase from 44 to 56. Not only this, 14 AC local services will now run on the tracks from 14th May, i.e. tomorrow, which did not run earlier, even on holidays and Sundays.

The Railways has decided to shift the Harbor Line’s AC Local to Main Line and Main Line’s Non AC Services on the Harbor Line; there will be no change in the number of trains. Railway will refund the differential amount to the passengers who take out the AC local pass on the Harbor line.


The fares of local AC trains were reduced on May 5; in fact, the number of passengers in AC local has increased rapidly after the reduction in fares made by the Railways on May 5. Due to the increase in the number, there was a demand from the passengers to increase the services of AC local.

Given these demands, Railways has taken this decision. At present, 1810 local services run on the Central Railway line. Eight hundred ninety-four services run on Main Line, 614 on Harbour, 262 on Trans Harbor, and 40 on the fourth corridor (Uran Line). At present, Central Railway has five rakes of AC local, in which services are being run through 4, while one is in repair.

The number of passengers increased after reducing fares on Mumbai Local AC trains. The number of passengers in AC local has increased rapidly after the fare was cut by 50 per cent. A total of 19,761 passengers travelled in April 2022.


On May 5, the railways had reduced the fare of Mumbai local AC trains by 50 per cent; since then, 30,112 passengers have travelled on these routes, whereas only 13 days have passed in May fare has reduced after May 5. In just eight days, such a vast number of passengers travelled in Mumbai local AC trains.
