In Odisha, Biju Janata Dal MLA Bijay Shankar Das forgot to come for his marriage registration. The MLA and his girlfriend applied for it a month ago. The police have registered a case against the MLA on the girlfriend’s complaint.
According to reports, the registration of the marriage of Tirtol constituency MLA Bijay Shankar Das was to be done at Jagatsinghpur’s sub-registrar office on Friday. Girlfriend Somalika had reached the office on time, but neither the MLA nor any member of her family came there. After waiting about three hours, a disappointed Somalika had to leave the registrar’s office.
The girl has accused the MLA of not coming to the marriage registrar’s office on Friday despite making a promise. In this regard, a complaint was lodged against the MLA and his family members at the Sadar police station of the city.
The victim claimed in her complaint that she had been in a relationship with Das for three years. The MLA has cheated and harassed her. It also alleged that Tirtol MLA Bijay Shankar has not kept his promise and is not answering his phone calls. Along with this, the MLA’s relative and his family are also accused of threatening the girl.

Somalika said, “We had applied for marriage registration in the sub-registrar’s office on May 17. Bijay had also promised me that we would do a court marriage on this day in the sub-registrar’s office. But he didn’t keep his promise.
In a phone conversation with the local media, Bijay Shankar categorically denied the allegations against him. BJD MLA Das said, “According to the rules, marriage registration must be completed within 90 days of applying. We still have 60 days left for this. I have not received any information from anyone regarding marriage registration today.
