IRCTC Train Tickets: We all travel by train at some point; sometimes, children are accompanied on the journey. In such a situation, Indian Railways provides many facilities to make children’s journeys comfortable, which travellers can take advantage of. In this, many other benefits are available from the convenience of getting a seat without a ticket. In such a situation, let us know the facilities through which travel can be made comfortable.
Free baby seat
Northern Railway zone has introduced baby seats to make travel easier for women with small children, which are attached to the lower berth. It has a stopper for the safety of the child. Right now, this facility has started on a trial basis, which will later be created in other trains keeping in view the interest of the passengers.

Birth book for a child below five years of age
If you travel long distances and have a child under five years old with you, a berth reserve can be made for that too. Children below the age of 5 years travel free on the railways. But if a person wants to book a berth for a small child, he can reserve a berth by paying the rent amount.
This is the rule on the full berth for children of 5-12 years
Similarly, there is a provision for travelling at half the fare for children aged 5-12 years on the Railways. But if a person wants a full berth for the child, then there is a provision to pay the total amount of rent. By doing this, he can reserve a berth.
Insurance facility
Railway gives passengers an insurance cover of up to Rs 10 lakh on online ticket booking on rail travel. In such a situation, this facility also applies to children while travelling. Therefore, apply for the insurance facility when booking the ticket. However, children below five years of age are not covered by insurance. But then, while travelling, the details of children below five years of age must also be filled in.
