The SpiceJet flight from Delhi to Jabalpur returned to Delhi airport after a while on Saturday morning. A SpiceJet spokesperson had informed that after the flight’s take-off, when the aircraft reached an altitude of 5000 feet, smoke was seen in the pilot’s cabin. After this, the plane landed back at Delhi Airport. Information about what caused the smoke in the cabin has not been revealed.
DGCA has started an investigation of smoke in the cabin of SpiceJet aircraft. On the other hand, a statement has been issued by SpiceJet that on Saturday, SpiceJet DASH8 Q400 aircraft VT-SUR was to go from SG-2962, Sector Delhi (DEL) to Jabalpur (JLR). After taking off, at an altitude of about 5000 feet, the pilot’s team noticed smoke near the toilet in the cabin. The crew informed the cockpit crew after seeing light smoke in the cabin.

A passenger named Saurabh on the plane told us that our flight was at 6:15 am. We learned about the smoke 2-3 minutes after taking off. The first crew members said that he might have been smoking, but when the investigation was done, there was nothing like this. When the smoke increased, we started panicking. Many passengers began having trouble breathing. He said that the situation remained like this for about 45 minutes. All the passengers were spraying water on their masks and adjusting somehow.
Saurabh said that some passengers were also in panic due to the smoke. Some of these children and senior citizens were such that they started having trouble breathing, and many passengers began coughing due to the smoke.
The aircraft’s pilots and cabin crew members were seen in a lot of tension. After this, the emergency landing of the plane was made. The aircraft made an emergency landing at Delhi airport at 7 am. After this, we learned that the smoke had come out due to an engine problem. Saurabh said that SpiceJet had given us a backup flight.
Shiv Sena Rajya Sabha MP targets DGCA
After the information about the plane’s emergency landing, Shiv Sena’s Rajya Sabha MP Priyanka Chaturvedi targeted the DGCA. He said that DGCA could not act against the airline as the preferred airline for horse-trading. He noted that salute to the crew members for saving the lives of the passengers.
