Mayor Pramila Pandey of Kanpur inspected seven ancient temples of Beconganj and Chamanganj. She said that Biryani shops had been opened outside temples in Muslim-dominated areas. The Mayor said that there are 124 temples in these areas which have been infringed upon. Mayor Pramila Pandey inspected with ACP Avanerganj ( UP Police ) and a team of 4 police stations.

All the temples she visited during this period are in terrible condition. She said that during this time, the temples were in terrible shape. Illegal occupation of all the temples was found. Therefore, the Mayor has sent a notice to those who infringe on the temples and asked for a reply in 7 days.
During the inspection in Beconganj, the lock of a temple gate had to be broken. During this, Mayor Baba also reached Biryani and Chand Biryani shops. The owner of Baba Biryani has been in the news for allegedly occupying the temple land and opening a Biryani shop. Enemy property case is also going on against him.

In its report, the administration had said that the Biryani shop was opened by encroaching upon the land of the Janaki temple. Mayor Pramila Pandey said that the condition of our temples is such that if a Hindu goes, he will be disappointed. There is a lot of filth here; biryani is being cooked, and it is unfortunate. The Mayor further said that encroachment on the temple land would not be allowed. At the same time, after the inspection of the Mayor, a cleric said that no temple had been encroached upon in the area.
