Chana Dal Khichdi Recipe Ingredients
- Chana dal – 1 cup
- Garlic – grated
- Ginger – 2 tbsp grated
- As required – red chilli powder
- Chopped coriander – 2 tsp
- Cumin – 1 tsp
- Rice – 1 cup Basmati
- Big onion – 1
- As required – salt
- Water – 6 cups
- Fennel – 1/2 tsp
- Water – 6 cups
Steps to Make Chana Dal Khichdi
Step – 1 Soak the rice and lentils
To make this Yummy Rice Recipe, first, wash the rice in water and then soak it for about 20-25 minutes. After this, rinse the chana dal in water and keep it aside.
Step – 2 Prepare the Tadka
When the rice gets soaked, take a wok, add oil, and heat it on medium flame. Then, add cumin, garlic, fennel, ginger to the pan and fry for a minute or two.
Step – 3 Cook onions and add spices.
After this, add chopped onion to the pan and fry the onion till it turns brown. Add salt and red chilli powder to the pan and cook for about 30-40 seconds. Then, add chana dal and cook for about 2-5 minutes, and then add two cups of water to the pan and mix all the ingredients well.
Step – 4 Cook all the ingredients
Cover the pan with a lid and cook the chana dal for 4-5 minutes till it becomes soft. Now add basmati rice to the pan and mix it well with all the other ingredients. Add the remaining water and cover the pan with a lid once again. Cook rice and dal till the water is completely absorbed.
Step – 5 Serve hot
Open the lid occasionally to check whether the rice is cooked or not. When the khichdi is cooked, garnish with chopped coriander leaves and serve hot with fresh curd or pickle and salad.
