A 59-year-old HIV Positive woman was suffering from pain in his lower abdomen. There was swelling there too. This patient came to India from Kenya for treatment. When the doctors of a private hospital examined him, they were surprised. He had a 10-kg tumour in his kidney. The doctors removed the kidney and cured the patient. It is claimed that this is the giant kidney tumour ever released in the country.
10 Kg Kidney Tumour Removed
Doctors have taken more than eight and a half hours in this surgery. Doctors said that this tumour was 40 cm long and 30 cm wide. Doctors said that this tumour’s size was equal to that of a standard laptop. It covered the entire part of the patient’s abdomen. The problem was that the patient was HIV positive. So a lot of care had to be taken during the surgery.
This surgery was done at Max Super Specialty Hospital, Shalimar Bagh, Delhi. The doctors performing this surgery are Dr Archit Pandit, Associate Professor of Surgical Oncology and Dr Vineet Goel, Associate Consultant. He has done open abdominal surgery on foreign visiting patients. It is believed that it is one of the most significant tumour cases globally.
According to an English newspaper, before this, a kidney tumour of 7.4 kg was removed in 2017 at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in Delhi. Which was believed to be the largest at that time. But now, the 10 kg tumour has destroyed the previous tumour record.
