The concern is increasing in the country about the new variant of Corona, Omicron. Two more cases of the Omicron variant have been reported in Mumbai. After this, the number of people infected with this variant has increased to 10 in Maharashtra and 23 across the country.

According to a report published in India Today, on Monday, 6 December, two people were found infected with Omicron variants in Mumbai. One of them is 36 years old and has come from South Africa. The second person infected with Omicron has come from America, whose age is 37 years.

According to the Health Department of the Government of Maharashtra, no symptoms of Kovid have been seen in these two infected so far, and they have been vaccinated. At present, five high-risk and 315 low-risk people have been traced in contact with these patients. Whose tracing is going on?

Earlier on Sunday, December 5, 7 new cases of Omicron were reported in Maharashtra, where six people of the same family were found infected in the Pimpri-Chinchwad area of ​​Pune. Some members of this family had recently returned to Mumbai from Nigeria. Apart from this, a 47-year-old man was found infected in Pune on Sunday itself. Overall, 10 Omicron infected has been found in Maharashtra so far.

109 people who returned from abroad to Thane missing

Meanwhile, in Maharashtra, out of 295 people who returned to Thane from foreign travel, 109 people are missing. According to India Today, Vijay Suryavanshi, head of Kalyan Dombivli Municipal Corporation, said that the mobile phones of some of these people are switched off. At the same time, some are not found at their address.

Will there be a lockdown in Maharashtra?

Given how Omicron cases are coming to the fore in Maharashtra, many people have anticipated a lockdown in the state soon. According to India Today, the government has stated this.

Maharashtra Health Minister Rajesh Tope has said that due to Omicron, no lockdown is being considered; if the situation worsens, the lockdown will be imposed after talks between the central and state government.

Rajesh Tope said,

“If we put restrictions on the movement of people now, then it can be harrowing for the people. That’s why we are monitoring the situation; whatever guidelines we get from the state and the centre, we will follow them.”

Five suspected cases of Omicron in Goa

Five suspected cases of Omicron have been found in Goa. All of them have come to Goa by a merchant ship. Giving information about this, State Health Minister Vishwajit Rane said,

‘I want to inform the people of Goa that five crew members of a ship have been isolated. They are suspected to be infected with Omicron variants. Their samples have been sent to Pune for genome sequencing. The results (of the investigation) are awaited.
