Earthquake in Myanmar: An earthquake has occurred in Myanmar on Thursday. According to India’s National Center of Seismology (NCS), the earthquake’s magnitude was 4.3 on the Richter scale. This earthquake occurred 32 km northwest of Mavlaik.
4.3 Magnitude Earthquake hits Myanmar
Mawlaik is close to the Sagaing area of Myanmar. The tremors of the earthquake were felt up to 75 km away. These tremors have come at around 10.19 am, according to Myanmar’s time. In the next few hours, scientists can find out where the epicentre of the earthquake was.
There was an earthquake last month too.
Apart from NCS, the European Mediterranean Seismology Center (EMSC) and Thailand’s Earthquake Observation Division (TMD) have also confirmed this earthquake. Last month also a strong tremor of the quake was felt in Myanmar and Thailand. In August, there was a strong earthquake in the northern region of Myanmar on Thursday.
The US Geological Survey (USGS) reported that the 5.5-magnitude earthquake struck 46 kilometres (28 mi) northeast of Shwebo, north of Mandalay, Myanmar. Its centre was at a depth of 10 kilometres from the earth. The USGS (USGS on Earthquake) had said that the earth trembled for some time due to the strong earthquake. At the same time, many people are feared to be injured.
Why do so many earthquakes occur in Myanmar?
There was no damage to the buildings during the earthquake in August. At the same time, buildings shook for half a minute in the Chiang Mai earthquake in northern Thailand. The ‘Seismic Fault Line’ passes through Myanmar (Myanmar Earthquake Mandalay). For this reason, earthquakes often occur here. In these fault lines, the inner plates of the ground collide with each other and movement is created. In May, at least three people were killed, and more than 24 were injured in a strong earthquake in southwest China bordering Myanmar.
Earthquake in China
Strong earthquake tremors have also been felt in Sichuan, South-West China, on Thursday. The magnitude of the earthquake was measured at six on the Richter scale. It is being told that at least two people have died and three others were injured in the earthquake in China. Local officials said there were reports of casualties in Kaoba village of Fuji township.
The earthquake occurred at 4:33 am. According to the China Earthquake Network Center (CENC), the quake’s epicentre was located at 29.2 degrees north latitude and 105.34 degrees east longitude. The report said that the earthquake occurred at a depth of 10 km, and further rescue work is going on.
