Amul Milk Price Hike: Busing Amul’s milk has become expensive. Amul has announced a price hike of Rs 2 per litre. The company said that the increased prices would be applicable from March 1, 2022. The company further said in the statement that in the markets of Ahmedabad and Saurashtra in Gujarat, Amul Gold is priced at Rs 30 per 500 ml, Amul Taza is priced at Rs 24 per 500 ml, and Amul Shakti is priced at Rs 27 per 500 ml. Amul said that this increase of Rs 2 per litre is only 4 per cent, which is much less than the average food inflation.
According to Amul, the company has increased the prices of the fresh milk category by only 4 per cent in the last two years.
The reason for the increase in the cost of the company
Explaining the reason behind the rise in the price, the company said that due to increase in the cost of energy, packaging, transportation, animal feed had increased the cost of milk production. The company said that the total cost of operation has increased in this way.
Apart from this, the company further said that keeping in view this increase in cost, Amul has increased the price of milk by Rs 35-40 per kg fat, which is five per cent more than last year.
The company says that farmers will also benefit from this. The company said that out of every rupee paid on the purchase of Amul milk, 80 paise is returned to the farmers. Amul noted the price change would help maintain remunerative milk prices for milk producers and incentivize them to produce more and more milk.
Dairy products will become expensive.
With the increase in milk prices, the prices of other dairy products will also increase. With milk becoming expensive, the cost of ghee, paneer, butter, cheese, lassi, ice cream and buttermilk, besides tea, coffee, sweets and chocolate, will also increase. In such a situation, along with the rising milk prices, there has been another setback on the commoner’s budget.
