88 Crore Loss To Railway During Protest Against CAA

Indian Railway Has Arrested 21 Alleged Nuisances For Damaging Railway Property In anti-CAA Demonstrations In West Bengal, Assam, and Bihar. They Will Recover Losses.

Railways lost property worth Rs 87.99 crore in West Bengal, Bihar. And Assam during protests against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA). The railway has arrested 21 people in this case. RPF has registered 54 cases in this case and Government Railway Police has registered 27 cases. A case of damage to railway property and arson has been registered on them. A senior RPF official said that the culprits will compensate for this loss.

A total of 21 people are accused of vandalizing during protests against the CAA. A senior RPF official told news agency PTI that an amount of Rs 87.99 crore would be recovered. From the vandalists during the CAA demonstration.

Protests started in several areas of the country the next day after the passage. Of the Citizenship Amendment Bill in Parliament and violent demonstrations witnessed in many places. Banners also damaged public properties in many places. Now the government has started the process of recovery the railway damage loss from them. Several state governments have already issued orders in this regard.

More Arrests From Bengal

A senior RPF official told PTI, so far 21 people have arrested. Some people arrested on the spot itself. Some people have caught on the basis of video footage. The video is still under intense investigation, so more arrests are possible in the next few days. Most of people have arrested from Bengal. Those caught, will send a notice from the commercial department.
