Petrol Price Today, Delhi VAT Decision, Delhi Petrol Updates: The  Delhi government has reduced the petrol prices, giving relief to the public. In the cabinet meeting held on Wednesday, a decision was taken to reduce VAT, after which one litre of petrol has become cheaper by eight rupees.

In the meeting, the Delhi government reduced the VAT on petrol from 30 per cent to 19.40 per cent. After this, the price of petrol will be reduced by eight rupees from tonight. The new prices of petrol will be applicable from midnight tonight.

Petrol Cheaper in Delhi by Rs 8

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal tweeted, “Today we have made petrol very cheap in Delhi. VAT rate reduced from 30% to 19.4%. Petrol and diesel have become cheaper in Delhi as compared to other cities of NCR. I hope this step will give relief to the people of Delhi from inflation.


Since the beginning of this year, petrol and diesel prices have been on fire across the country. After increasing oil prices for several days, finally, on the occasion of Diwali, the central government gave a gift to the public. The government had reduced the excise duty by five and ten rupees.

After this, the price of petrol and diesel decreased. After the decision of the Center, most of the NDA ruled states also reduced the VAT on petrol and diesel in their state. After a few days, the Congress government of Punjab, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh also took a similar decision and gave relief to the people.

Relief continued for almost the whole month.

This cabinet meeting took place at 11:30. At the same time, oil companies have also not increased the prices of petrol and diesel since the reduction in excise duty. According to Indian petroleum marketing company Indian Oil Corporation (IOCL), petrol and diesel prices remained stable on December 1. Petrol in the national capital Delhi stands at Rs 103.97 per litre, while in Mumbai, it stands at Rs 109.98 per litre.


However, after reducing the petrol price by eight rupees in the capital, the new rates will be applicable from midnight. If the oil companies do not change the petrol prices on Thursday, one litre of petrol will be available for around Rs 95. Apart from this, diesel is sold at Rs 86.67 in Delhi and Rs 94.14 per litre in Mumbai.

Apart from this, the price of petrol in Kolkata is Rs 104.67 while diesel is sold at Rs 89.79 per litre. At the same time, petrol in Chennai also costs Rs 101.40 while diesel is priced at Rs 91.

Oil prices are released daily in the morning.
