The police have made some more arrests in the murder case of Harsha, a Bajrang Dal worker in the Shivamogga district of Karnataka. Police have arrested six accused related to this murder.
Shivamogga SP Lakshmi Prasad said that six people had been arrested for the murder of a Bajrang Dal worker. The accused have been identified as Asif, Syed Nadeem, Rehan Sharif, Nihan, Abdul Afnan and Kashif. SP Prasad said that 12 people were questioned, and six were arrested. He said that the age of the six accused involved in this murder, who were detained, ranged from 20 to 22.
Let us tell you that on February 20, Harsha was murdered. After the murder of Harsha, his father had alleged that some miscreants had killed him only because he is a worker of Bajrang Dal.
Demonstrations after the murder
After the death of Harsha, there were protests all over Karnataka, including Shivamogga. The protesters used stones, weapons, and even torched vehicles. The police had to resort to tear gas to bring the situation under control.
Given the tense atmosphere after the incident, the district administration declared a holiday in schools and colleges. Apart from this, section 144 has also been implemented here.
The official said that 14 separate incidents of violence and arson occurred in the city (since the murder), for which an FIR would be lodged. Following this development, the police officer had said that FIRs had been registered in three cases. And police are on the lookout for those who lost their vehicles and property in the arson and violence.
Curfew extended in Shivamogga.
Even after the arrest of the accused, curfew has been extended in Shivamogga. Now there will be moved here only from 6 am to 9 am. At the same time, Section 144 has also been developed for two days. Shivamogga Deputy Commissioner Dr Selvamani R said that the decision had been taken to extend the curfew period to bring the situation under control.
