Dera Sacha Sauda chief Ram Rahim, who came out on furlough before the Punjab elections, has been given Z+ security. The Haryana government has increased the safety of Khalistanis, stating that their lives are in danger. The government has made the ADGP (CID) report the basis of security. The government said that Khalistan supporters could harm the Dera chief, so strict security is given.
Ram Rahim Got Z Plus Security
Ram Rahim is out on a 21-day furlough before the assembly elections in Punjab. The opposition raised many questions on the furlough received before the election and surrounded the Haryana government. The Sirsa-headquartered Dera Sacha Sauda has many followers in the electoral states of Punjab and Uttar Pradesh. However, CM Khattar had said that the relief given to Ram Rahim had nothing to do with the Punjab elections.
Last year too, the Dera chief was granted emergency parole from morning till evening to visit his ailing mother. He also came out of jail on a few occasions citing health reasons. Ram Rahim was lodged in Sunaria jail in Rohtak district of Haryana.
Ram Rahim was given furlough with certain conditions. He could not hold a public meeting in this. Nor can there be an influx of devotees at his tent. Along with this, he can leave the city only with permission. In a way, furlough is like leave for convicted prisoners. Under furlough, the prisoner can go to his home for a specified period.
Why was Ram Rahim punished?
Ram Rahim (54 years) is serving a 20-year jail term for raping two female followers at his ashram in Sirsa. Ram Rahim was convicted in the case in August 2017 by a special CBI court in Panchkula. Apart from this, Gurmeet Ram Rahim was also sentenced to life imprisonment by the court for the murder of former Dera manager Ranjit Singh.
