Electric Bus Accident In Kanpur: In Kanpur, UP, an electric bus created a stir on the road late on Sunday night. The bus broke into a traffic booth, hit half a dozen vehicles and trampled 15 people. In these, six people died, while nine people were injured. The condition of many of the injured is said to be serious. The accident was so horrific that two people died on the spot. While four died on the way to the hospital.
How did the accident happen?
An electric bus had left Kanpur’s Ghantaghar intersection for Kidwainagar Nagar. Witnesses said that as soon as they got down from the bridge, the driver started running the bus on the wrong side at high speed and left, trampling whoever came in between. The e-bus collided with two cars, two bikes, two scooters and then a tempo. After this, the bus hit the traffic booth at the Tatmill intersection and then rammed into a dumper coming from Chakeri’s side.
Only Shivam Sonkar (30), Sunil Sonkar (30), resident of Latush Road, Aslan (20), resident of Bekenganj and Ajit Kumar (60), resident of Keshav Nagar in Naubasta have been identified so far among those who died in this entire accident. Shivam and Sunil were on scooty while Aslan and Ajit Kumar were on the bike.
The bus hit a Swift car in which four members of the same family were travelling. The condition of all four is said to be serious. An injured present on the spot told Spot News 18,
“The driver was waving the bus and running on the road; the bus was out of his control. I was going to eat food when the bus came in front; it hit many people. Knocked two cars in front of me.”
Driver absconding after an accident
Kanpur East DCP Pramod Kumar said that the driver had fled from the spot after the accident. His search continues. The incident is being investigated. The police are also examining the footage of the CCTV cameras installed there. All the injured have been admitted to Lala Lajpat Rai Hospital.

Priyanka Gandhi expressed grief by tweeting.
After getting information about the accident, Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi expressed grief. He wrote on Twitter,
“Unfortunate news of road accident was received from Kanpur. My deepest condolences to the families of the deceased. I pray to God that the injured get speedy recovery.”
