Former Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) director Ranjit Sinha has died in Delhi. According to the news agency ANI, he breathed his last in Delhi around 4:30 AM on Friday. He was 68. In his career, Sinha held many important positions like CBI Director, ITBP DG. Ranjit Singh was a 1974 batch IPS officer. Before assuming the Director-General of CBI, he was the Indo-Tibetan Border Police director (ITBP).

Ranjit Sinha was also accused of corruption. The CBI had also filed a case against him in a corruption case. Ranjit was accused of influencing the investigation into the coal allocation scam while holding the ‘s post-CBI chief’s post.
On 22 November 2012, he was made CBI Chief for two years. Earlier, he headed the Railway Protection Force and served in senior positions in Patna and Delhi CBI.
