Group Captain Varun Singh was a resident of Dawaria in UP, was a resident of Khorma Kanholi village of Deoria, UP. He was being treated at a hospital in Wellington. Doctors from Bangalore and Pune were treating them. Varun has been a batchmate of Group Captain Abhinandan Varthaman. Abhinandan Varthaman had driven out Pakistani planes that entered India’s border on February 27 2019.
Captain Varun Singh, also Varun Singh’s father, was born in Delhi in the army. His age was 42 years. His father, Krishna Pratap Singh, had retired as a colonel in the military. Varun’s younger brother Tanuj Singh is in the Navy in Mumbai. His wife, Geetanjali, has a son Rid Raman and a daughter Aaradhya.

Giving information about the accident in Parliament, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh had told that on December 8, in the afternoon, the helicopter of the Indian Air Force in which CDS Bipin Rawat was present crashed. General Bipin Rawat was to go to the Defense Service Staff College in Wellington. The Mi 17 helicopter of the Air Force took off at 11.48 from Sulur airbase. It was to land in Wellington at 12:15. But on 12.08, it crashed.
In this accident, CDS Bipin Rawat, his wife Madhulika Rawat, Brigadier LS Lidder, Colonel Harjinder Singh, Lance Naik Vivek Kumar, Naik Gurusevak Singh, Lance Naik B Sai Teja, Naik Jitendra Kumar, Havildar Satpal Rai, Wing Commander PS Chauhan, Squadron Leader Kuldeep Singh, Rana Pratap Das, JWO Pradeep died on the same day.
