Gujarat Cyclone Jawad: In Una tehsil of Gir Somnath district in Gujarat, a fisherman’s body has been found, and seven others have now been found after their boats sank near the beach amid stormy weather at night. They are also missing. Rescue operation is being carried out with the help of a Coast Guard helicopter.

District Magistrate RG Gohil said that the Coast Guard would continue the search operation through its boats during the night. The rescue operation was launched with the help of a Coast Guard helicopter in the early hours of Thursday, he said. Later, he said two Coast Guard boats and a Dornier aircraft also joined the search operation.
Four of the 12 missing fishermen survived by swimming, seven still missing.
According to Somvar Majithia, sarpanch of Nawabandar, the fishermen were sleeping in boats parked near the shore when strong winds started around midnight after a sudden change in weather. At least five boats were destroyed, five capsized, and around 40 others were partially damaged.
He said that initially, 12 fishermen went missing, but four of them had swam to the shore. He said the body of one fisherman was found near the coast in the afternoon while seven others were still missing.
Alert issued for fishers.

After this incident, an alert was issued asking the fishermen not to venture into the sea. At the same time, due to the low-pressure area and western disturbance formed in the Arabian Sea, Mumbai, its suburbs and northern and central Maharashtra and southern parts of Gujarat received rain on Wednesday and Thursday.
