Heavy Damage to Cotton Crops in Jalgaon
In the Khandesh area of Jalgaon, only the cotton crop was in good condition. But this crop also got hit by heavy rains. Earlier, rains in June and July affected other crops, including urad and green gram. Farmers had to sow twice after the crops were damaged due to rain.

Sales of the pre-season cotton crop were expected to start by the end of August. But the incessant rains in August and now in September have dashed all the hopes. It has been raining daily in Jalgaon, Dhule and Nandurbar districts for the past few days. Due to this, the condition of the crops has worsened even more. Urad and green gram are being harvested in some areas. Soybean harvest is coming. But due to the onset of rains, harvesting, threshing etc., is closed. Farmers are tired because the crop is going out of hand. There is a continuous decline in the quality of the produce.
In which district, how many hectares of cotton was sown
Cotton is the main crop in the Khandesh region. Cotton has been planted in about five lakh 18 thousand hectares in Jalgaon district, two lakh 20 thousand hectares in Dhule and one lakh 14 thousand hectares in Nandurbar. The area under the pre-season cotton crop is about one lakh hectares. Transplanting was done in late May and the first week of June.
Which state is the largest producer of cotton
The highest cotton is produced in Gujarat, where black soil is found more. After Gujarat, cotton is also grown on a large scale in Maharashtra.
