Why is the protest happening?

The reason for this is that the railway vacancy came out 1000 days ago. Railways released the advertisement in February 2019. Jobs are jobs. There were two categories of jobs in this. Vacancy of 35 thousand 208 posts in the first NTPC, i.e. non-technical popular category.

In this, recruitment is done on posts like Clerk, Ticket Clerk, Goods Guard, Station Master. The number of people applying for NTPC is around one crore, 26 lakhs. Its examination was to be held from June to September 2019.

The second exam was that of Group D. Along with NTPC, its vacancy also came. Huge vacancy of 1 lakh 3 thousand 769 posts. Around one crore 15 lakh applications were received. If both the exams are combined, the total number of applicants becomes around two crores 40 lakhs. After the NTPC exam, the Group D exam was scheduled for September-October 2019. But neither the NTPC exam nor Group D was held on the scheduled schedule.

What happened after last year’s performance?

You must remember the performance of unemployed youth from social media to the road in September last year. We recognize because even then, we had asked the government that when will these recruitments be completed? And after about one and a half years, again asking when will these recruitments be completed?

The government issued a date sheet after last year’s protests. First, it was said to conduct NTPC and then Group D exam. The first stage examination of NTPC started in December 2020 and ended in July 2021. But the result has not come yet. Those candidates of NTPC who were performing for the exam earlier are now serving for the result. Then after that, it will be the turn of Medical, Typing, Document Verification, and Joining.

Thousand days have passed, when will the exam be held?

One stage examination of NTPC has also been done. Group D people have not even had the exam yet. At the same time, a whole thousand days have passed since the notification was issued. The government, which takes 500 rupees for each form, has not yet been able to answer the question of more than one crore youth that when will their examination be held.

Forget about the completion of recruitment and getting joined. Anupam, president of the Yuva Halla Bol organization, who has been protesting since September last year demanding to conduct Group D and NTPC exams as soon as possible, says,

The most significant number of people applying for Group D are from the most vulnerable sections of society. These are not just unemployed youth. These are the people for whom collecting Rs 500 of the form is a struggle in itself. By depositing money from such people, you are not conducting the examination and earning interest.

When we performed on September 5, 2020, they immediately said that we would conduct the examination. This is the only reaction that has come from their side so far. He was also told that both NTPC and Group D would be done, but only NTPC has been done; Group D has not been done yet.

A thousand days have passed since the notification came out. There were several demonstrations in between. There have been millions of tweets even today. But one crore 15 lakh people who fill the form of Group D do not know when their exam will be held. There is also doubt on whether the exam will happen or not. Till now, no update has come from RRB or the Ministry of Railways.
