After eight hours of interrogation, Nawab Malik, a minister in the Maharashtra government and NCP leader, was arrested by the ED. Nawab Malik was taken out of the ED office in a white-coloured Innova vehicle. He was brought to JJ Hospital for a medical checkup. After the medical checkup, they will be produced in court. According to the information received, he has been arrested for financial transactions of people related to Dawood Ibrahim, accused of Mumbai blasts.
According to sources, the ED took Dawood Ibrahim’s brother Iqbal Kaskar into custody from Thane jail a few days ago and questioned him. Iqbal Kaskar has named Nawab Malik in his interrogation.

As soon as Nawab Malik came out of the ED office in South Mumbai after eight hours of ED interrogation, NCP workers gathered in large numbers started announcing ‘Jhukengai Nahi Jhukengai Nahi’. Nawab Malik also gave a signal saying that he would not bow down, will fight and would win, waving such a hand and gesturing to his workers.
But the ED officials neither gave him a chance to talk to the media nor the workers. Nawab Malik has been brought to JJ Hospital in Mumbai for a medical checkup. After the medical checkup, they will be presented in court, and their custody will be demanded.

At present, the medical checkup of Nawab Malik is going on. After that, they will be produced in court. Special public prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam said the ED would present the primary evidence before the court. Because for seeking custody, the investigating agency has to show preliminary evidence as a reason to arrest.
It is illegal to arrest without it. After this, Nawab Malik’s lawyer will also present the argument against the custody that action is being taken against him for political purposes. Therefore, considering the value of the evidence, the court will give its verdict.
ED officials picked up Nawab Malik from his house at 4.30 am and brought him for questioning.
Earlier today (Wednesday, February 23) morning, ED officers and CISF personnel reached Nawab Malik’s residence at Noor Manzil in Kurla, Mumbai. They asked him to go for interrogation after talking for a while. Nawab Malik kept talking to him for a time, then got ready and left for the ED office with him.
Nawab Malik came out in a black coloured Innova car. Nawab Malik was accompanied by his son Amir Malik. Nawab Malik reached the ED office at 7:47 am. He was questioned by the ED officials from eight o’clock to 3.05 pm and then arrested.
