Given the increasing number of patients with Mucormycosis (black fungus) in private hospitals, Health Minister Rajesh Tope proposed regulating the rates for treatment in private hospitals. Today Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray approved in this regard. The treatment rates are divided into three categories according to cities A, B and C.
A few days back, Health Minister Rajesh Tope announced the state government’s decision to provide free treatment to Mucormycosis patients under the Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Janarogya Yojana. Patients with Mucormycosis are treated free of cost from hospitals participating in Mahatma Phule Janarogya and Pradhan Mantri Janrogya Yojana.
What will be the New Rates for Mucormycosis Treatment?
ICU without ventilator and isolation: Rs 7500 for class A cities, Rs 5500 for class B cities and Rs 4500 for class C cities.
ICU with ventilator and isolation: Rs 9000 for class A cities, Rs 6700 for class B cities and Rs 5400 for class C cities.

Class A City
Mumbai and metropolitan areas (including Mira Bhayandar Municipal Corporation, Thane, Navi Mumbai, Kalyan Dombivli, Ulhasnagar Municipal Corporation area, Ambernath, Kulgaon Badlapur, Panvel Municipal Corporation), Pune and Pune metropolitan areas, Nagpur (Nagpur Municipal Corporation, Digdoh, Wadi).
Class B City
Nashik, Amravati, Aurangabad, Bhiwandi, Solapur, Kolhapur, Vasai-Virar, Malegaon, Nanded, Sangli and all district headquarters are included.
C category group includes cities other than A and B group.
Notably, the state government has given Rs 10,000 to Rs 1 lakh for 28 types of surgeries. The cost has been fixed from Rs 75,00 to Rs 7,5000 for Class B cities and Rs 60,00 to Rs 6,0000 for Class C cities.
