Punjab Election Result 2022: Film actor Sonu Sood’s sister Malvika Sood is trailing from Moga’s seat. Moga is one of the high profile seats in Punjab and Malvika Sood, sister of film actor Sonu Sood, is in the fray. Malvika, who entered the fray on a Congress ticket, traversed the initial trends.
Malvika’s fight joined the Bharatiya Janata Party ( BJP ) from her party, and the current MLA is from Harjot Kamal. Aam Aadmi Party’s Dr Amandeep Kaur Arora and Shiromani Akali Dal Barjinder Singh Brar also present their challenge.
Congress got a victory last time.
The Moga assembly seat has been considered an essential seat of Punjab since its inception. Congress had won this seat in the assembly elections held five years ago in 2017. Harjot Kamal Singh of Congress defeated Ramesh Grover of the Aam Aadmi Party by 1764 votes in a tight contest.
Moga assembly seat comes in Faridkot district. Congress’s Mohammad Sadiq is the MP from this seat. He defeated Gulzar Singh of Shiromani Akali Dal by 83,356 votes.
Congress won 10 times in 15 elections.
Vidhan Sabha elections have been fought on the Moga assembly seat since 1957. Out of the 15 assembly elections held so far, the Congress party has won 10 times. Joginder Pal Jain has won the Moga seat three times before Dr Harjot Kamal. He was elected on a Congress ticket in 2007, and in 2012, he joined the Shiromani Akali Dal, which led to a by-election in 2013, in which Joginder Pal won.
