The Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy rains in North Gujarat and Maharashtra’s North and North West areas.

According to the Meteorological Department, a low-pressure area is formed in the East Central Arabian Sea near the Maharashtra coast in the next 24 hours. The cyclonic storm is very likely to move west-northwestward along the shores of Andhra Pradesh and Odisha.
Then on Thursday, it can turn into a disturbance towards the Bay of Bengal. The Meteorological Department says that heavy to hefty rains are expected in many areas of Odisha. Heavy rain has also been predicted in the coastal regions of West Bengal and Andhra.
IMD also says that many areas of North East states can also see heavy rains on 5-6 December. At the same time, there may be scattered rain at many places. Traffic jams, waterlogging and local train services affected due to heavy rains in Mumbai come to the fore.
Significantly, southern states like Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu are witnessing heavy rains in the last one or two months. Due to this, the destruction of crops has been seen. Along with this, there has been a lot of damage to roads, bridges and other infrastructure. The affected states have sought help from the central government.
