Mumbai Local Train News
Mumbai Local is famous all over the world for its speed and service. Due to Mumbai being the financial capital of the country, the population here is also very high. Mumbai Local has been playing a significant role since the beginning in providing service to the employees. In such a situation, special preparations are being made for the passengers to enjoy a comfortable journey.
The government will reduce rent.
According to a report in ‘Hindustan Times’, the fares of local trains are also likely to come down, and it will be based on the fare structure of metros. During this, the Indian Railways has stopped the plans to run semi AC local trains. Now there is a preparation to run only AC trains entirely. Preparations are underway to convert all local trains into NC trains. Semi AC means some coaches are of AC, and some coaches are of general category.
Purchase of 283 new AC local trains
MRVC Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) Ravi Agarwal told Hindustan Times, “We will procure all fully AC local trains for the Mumbai Suburban Railway network under the Mumbai Urban Transport Projects (MUTP). According to reports, MRVC will procure 283 new AC local trains in the coming days, and the Union Railway Ministry has given its approval to purchase AC local trains. However, the Railways said that the time limit had not been fixed for this yet.
Passengers angry due to high fare now
As of now, nine AC trains are running on a suburban network in Mumbai, and the people’s response is not so good due to the fare. The reason for this is that the fare is more than the first-class travel and the frequency of trains is also less.
Indian Railways said that the Railway Board is looking at the fare structure of metros running in Delhi and Mumbai for ticket fares. There is less chance of the AC train gaining momentum without altering it.
Fare like metro
Railways said that the fare structure of suburban AC local trains would be based on the metro fare of Mumbai Metro Area Development Authority (MMRDA) or Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC). Regarding this, MRVC had suggested keeping the fare of AC local trains at par with the metro fare in Mumbai and Delhi. This suggestion can be implemented because without reducing the fare and increasing the number of trains, the chances of increasing the number of passengers are slim.
Recently, Central Railway and Western Railway have conducted passenger surveys regarding AC local trains. After this, the reply of the passengers was handed over to the Ministry of Railways. During the survey, passengers have talked about reducing the fare of AC local trains.
