Navjot Singh Sidhu Resigns: There is big news in the internal politics of Congress. Punjab Congress President Navjot Singh Sidhu has resigned from his post. Sidhu has written a letter to Sonia Gandhi saying that he cannot compromise, so he is leaving the party’s state head. Sidhu had taken over the reins of the party in Punjab only three months back. Before Sidhu, Sunil Jakhar was the state head.
It is said that Priyanka Gandhi will try to persuade Sidhu. CM Charanjit Singh Channi also says that he will sit and talk with Sidhu. He said that if there is any displeasure with me, it will be settled. Meanwhile, Captain Amarinder Singh said, “I had already told that Sidhu is not a stable man. He is not fit for the border state.
Navjot Singh Sidhu Resigns
Navjot Singh Sidhu is currently contemplating the strategy ahead with his close ones at his residence in Patiala. It is being told that Sidhu was upset with the appointment of APS Deol to the post of Advocate General of Punjab. Deol has fought a case against the government in sacrilege cases. Apart from this, he has also opposed the case of Captain Amarinder Singh and former DGP Sumedh Singh Saini. Sidhu did not want Deol to be given the post of AG.

Navjot Singh Sidhu was eager to remove Captain Amarinder Singh from the post of CM for a long time. In the end, he was able to create an atmosphere within the party against the Captain. Captain Amarinder Singh had to step down as Chief Minister.
Navjot Singh Sidhu was hopeful that the high command would present him as the CM as an alternative to the Captain, but Sunil Jakhar was the first number in the Congress Legislature Party meeting. There were 40 MLAs in favour of making Sunil Jakhar the CM, while there were 20 MLAs in favour of making Randhawa the CM. Sidhu got the support of only 12 MLAs.
After a lot of hard work, the party stamped the fourth face Charanjit Singh Channi as CM. Channi has now taken over the command of the CM post. He has also formed his cabinet. Navjot Singh Sidhu was hopeful that the party high command would project him as the next CM. In this regard, the party’s Punjab in-charge, Harish Rawat, said earlier that Sidhu would be the CM face in the next elections. However, later Rawat also backtracked from his statement.
On September 21, after Channi became the Chief Minister, Sidhu said that Channi Bhai was working. It shows that some Chief Minister is doing tax work. This has never happened before. Channi had been told that day that there would be a cabinet meeting today. After which, the Chief Minister will make some big announcements. Sidhu was also angry about the fact that no mining work was done.
Six reasons for Sidhu’s displeasure
- Making Rana Gurjit Singh a minister despite Navjot Singh Sidhu’s opposition
- Giving home portfolio to Sukhjinder Randhawa
- Advocate General to APS Deol
- Not including Kuljit Nagra in the cabinet
- Sidhu’s opinion not to be taken in the formation of the cabinet and portfolio distribution of ministers
- Displeasure over not being made CM
