Odisha has extended the lockdown six days before the completion of the complete lockdown. Odisha has become the first state to have decided to increase the lockdown. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has announced a lockdown in the state till April 30. Given the Corona crisis, a lockdown has imposed in the entire country until April 14.

After the cabinet meeting, CM Naveen Patnaik said that at this critical point, we have to decide between saving people’s lives and bringing economic activities back on track. Today the cabinet agreed that keeping our lives is the biggest priority at this time. Because of this, we have decided to extend the lockdown till April 30.
Odisha Rail-Air Journey Should Not Start Till April 30
Appealing to PM Narendra Modi, CM Naveen Patnaik said that we would recommend the government of India to extend the complete lockdown by April 30. Apart from this, we will also request the central government not to start airline and railway services by April 30.
We Are In Touch With The State Governments
On the people trapped outside, CM Naveen Patnaik said that the government is concerned about the people of Odisha trapped in different parts of the country. We are in touch with the respective state governments for their betterment. Odisha will take care of all those stranded. He said that our government would also receive special measures for different areas.
All Educational Institutions Closed Till June 17
CM Naveen Patnaik assured that there will be no problem in the transportation of essential goods as before. We are leaving no stone unturned to increase the corona test and treatment facilities. We have planned to conduct one lakh tests in the state at the earliest. As far as educational institutions are concerned, they will remain closed till June 17.
CM Naveen Patnaik appealed to the people that the coronavirus is the biggest threat of the century to humanity. Life will never be the same. We all should understand this and face it courageously.
