Former Congress president Rahul Gandhi took a jibe at Jyotiraditya Scindia, saying that he could have become the Chief Minister one day if he stayed in the Congress. Still, now he is a ‘backbencher’ in the BJP.
Regarding the Congress organisation’s importance in the Indian Youth Congress national executive meeting, Rahul Gandhi said, “I told Scindia that you should work hard. One day you will become the chief minister. But he has become a backbencher in the BJP.”
He further claimed that Jyotiraditya Scindia had no future in the BJP, saying that he could strengthen the organisation by working with the workers. I told him that you keep working hard; one day, you will become the Chief Minister.
Jyotiraditya Scindia left Congress ‘hand’ a year ago.
After being associated with the Congress for 18 years, Scindia left the party after a split with former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath and Rajya Sabha member Digvijay Singh and joined the BJP last year. After him, more than 20 MLAs had left the party. As a result, the Kamal Nath government could not prove the majority in Madhya Pradesh. The BJP returned to state power under the leadership of Shivraj Singh Chauhan.
Let me tell you, Jyotiraditya Scindia had alleged that after the formation of the Congress government in the state, his close friends were sidelined, and Kamal Nath and Rajya Sabha member Digvijay Singh did not leave any chance for him.
During the meeting, senior officials of the organisation requested Rahul Gandhi to take over the reins. According to PTI sources, Rahul praised the organisation’s work and said that he should enhance his party’s ideology and not bow down to the RSS. Asking Rahul Gandhi to sit on President of the All India Congress Committee, Youth Congress President Srinivas Biwi said that he should take over the post of President again.
