The state government made it clear that 88 lakh domestic consumers have arrears of Rs 6400 crore. Now the government will fill in this money. The CM also gave an argument while making this announcement. He said that industries and businesses were closed during the Corona period.
People did not have income, so this decision was taken. At the same time, many people have paid the electricity bill. So what will happen to those people? Also, whose electricity bills will be waived is a big question.
Who will get the benefit
Such consumers who have a connection of up to 1 kW. They will get the benefit of this apology. There is one crore 20 lakh domestic consumers in the state. Out of these, especially the electricity of about 88 lakh consumers from April 2020 to August 31, 2020, will be waived. The government has considered this time as the COVID period. The implementation will start after issuing the department’s order on the announcement. Whereas those who have deposited the electricity bill.
They will also get the benefit of the announcement of the Chief Minister. Accordingly, the deposited amount will be adjusted in the coming bills. This amount will come down in the electricity bill of the coming months. Until the deposited amount is not adjusted, the bill will be reduced. Rs 189 crore of 14 and a half lakh consumers will be adjusted.
It is not yet clear when the order will be implemented.
At present, the Chief Minister has made this announcement in the Assembly. Now the order will be issued by the power company. After that, this order will come into force. It is unclear when the order will come into force and which month the bills will be adjusted. At the same time, such farmers who have become defaulters due to non-payment of bills do not need to pay the interest on the electricity bill.
