But some scientists believe there cannot be a hole in the ozone layer in the tropical region. This is a misconception.
The Tropical Ozone Hole is formed due to the effects of many atmospheric and cosmic rays from space. The ozone hole defines one such region. The number of O3 (inorganic tri-oxygen particles) in the surrounding atmosphere increases by at least 25 per cent. This harms humans, animals, plants and everything. This can lead to diseases like cancer.
According to the report of the AIP Advances journal, the ozone hole formed over the tropical regions can put a large world population at risk. Scientist Qing Bin Lu of the University of Waterloo says that low areas cover half of the Earth. If any ozone hole is formed on them, it is a matter of concern for the whole world because this can bring disaster to many middle-income and developing countries.
In the 1970s, scientists believed and knew that artificial industrial chemicals damage the ozone layer, due to which chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) were banned in the meantime. But still, CFCs were found in high quantities in the ozone layer. It seems that chlorofluorocarbons have gone and sat there.
The hole in the Earth’s tropical region is quite different from the ozone hole in Antarctica. It differs not only in size but also in seasonal endurance. The ozone hole of Antarctica keeps changing itself according to the seasons. O3 is the lowest in this hole between September and October. But before the cycle starts, O3 gets filled up automatically. At the same time, the ozone hole formed in the tropical region increases ultraviolet radiation. Due to this, a person has to face many types of diseases.
