Ajaz Patel 10 Wickets: Mumbai is the stronghold of cricket in India. Mumbai has given more than one cricketer to play for India. These players have defeated the opposition team by going all over the world. But, today, a player born in this Mumbai became a problem for the Indian team. Ajaz Patel, playing for New Zealand, brought the pride of the Indian batsmen to the same ground where he was born.
Apart from Mayank Agarwal, no Indian batter could understand the spin of Ajaz Patel. Ajaz took all ten wickets for India. Ajaz has become the first foreign bowler to do so in India.
How Ajaz Patel took ten wickets
First wicket – Ajaz Patel took the first wicket of Shubman Gill. He got the first success for the Kiwi team by getting caught by Ross Taylor at first slip.
The second wicket – In the 29th over, Pujara could not understand the ball of Ajaz, and he gave a double blow to India by bowling Pujara.
The third wicket – After dismissing Pujara, Ajaz Patel dismissed Indian captain Virat Kohli for zero LBW on the last ball of the 29th over. There was controversy on this wicket as well. Replays showed that the ball was hit simultaneously on the bat-pad.
Fourth wicket – Shreyas Iyer, who made a memorable debut in Kanpur, also could not understand the ball of Ajaz. On 18, he was caught by wicketkeeper Tom Blundell on Patel’s brilliant ball.
Fifth and 6th wicket – Ajaz bowled Saha (27) LBW and Ashwin (0) off two consecutive balls. Patel missed out on a hat-trick, but with the dismissal of Saha, he also completed his five wickets in the innings.
Seventh wicket – Ajaz also took the wicket of Mayank Agarwal, who played an innings of 150 runs for India. After scoring 150 runs, Mayank gave his catch to wicketkeeper Tom Blundle on the very next ball of Ajaz.
Eighth wicket – Ajaz dismissed Axar Patel (52) LBW after Mayank’s wicket. Akshar was given not out by the umpire, but New Zealand took a review, and it was seen that the ball was hitting the line of the stump. This was Ajaz’s 8th wicket.
9th and 10th wickets – Ajaz Patel then dismissed Jayant Yadav (12) and Mohammad Siraj (4). Both went to play a big shot, but they could not send Patel’s ball for a six. With this, Ajaz created history by completing his ten wickets.
Ajaz became only the third bowler in the world after former England bowler Jim Laker (1956) and former Indian captain Anil Kumble (1999) to take all ten wickets in an innings.
He was born in Mumbai, action like Jadeja.
Ajaz was born on 21 October 1988 in Mumbai. When he was eight years old, his family shifted to New Zealand. His action and body language are similar to that of Indian star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja. When Ajaz took his fifth wicket during the match, he kissed the ground.
The victory was snatched from India by batting.
Ajaz had come to bat at number 10 in the first test match. India could have won the Kanpur Test, but it ended thrillingly without any result. The Kiwi team had a target of 284 runs in the match, but New Zealand made the match draw by batting firmly on the last day.
Debutants Rachin Ravindra and Ajaz Patel played a significant role in making the match a draw. Rachin played 91 balls, while Ajaz also faced 23 balls while saving the wicket. The pair met a total of 52 balls for the last wicket.
