Twitter Users Demands Bharat Ratna to Milkha Singh

With the death of legendary sprinter Milkha Singh, the whole country mourned the end of an era. Milkha Singh passed away last night at PGIMER, Chandigarh, after battling a corona infection for a month. A week before this, his wife and former Indian volleyball team captain Nirmal Kaur also passed away. There is a wave of mourning in the sports world on the death of 91-year-old Milkha Singh.

Bharat Ratna to Milkha Singh

Many prominent personalities, including Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag, Kapil Dev, Sania Mirza, Harbhajan Singh, have paid tribute to him. Apart from this, ‘Bharat Ratna’ is trending on the social media platform Twitter. People on Twitter are demanding to give Bharat Ratna, the country’s highest honour, to Milkha Singh.

Paying tribute to Milkha Singh, Little Master Sachin Tendulkar wrote, “Flying Sikh Milkha Singh Ji may your soul rest in peace. With your passing, an emptiness has been created in the heart of the country. You will always be an inspiration to the generations to come.” Sehwag said, “The great man Milkha Singh left us. But Milkha Singh will always be alive in our hearts as a symbol of bravery. What personality was he? My condolences to the family of Milkha Singh.

The Sports Authority of India tweeted, “Commonwealth Games and Asian Games gold medalist Milkha Singh holds the national record of 400m for 38 years. Condolences to his family and the millions he inspired.”

PM Modi said – lost a big player.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted, “With the passing away of Milkha Singh Ji, we have lost a great sportsperson who had a special place in the hearts of countless Indians. Millions loved his inspiring personality. His demise saddens me.” He further wrote, “I spoke to Mr Milkha Singh Ji a few days back. I didn’t know that this would be our last talk. His life will inspire many budding players. My condolences to his family and his fans across the world. Sensations.”

The Indian sports world also paid tribute to this inspirational player. Even after saying goodbye to the track, he always had an eye on Indian sports. Home Minister Amit Shah said that one of the brightest stars of Indian sports is gone. He said, “India mourns the passing away of the legendary Flying Sikh Shri Milkha Singh Ji. He left an indelible mark on world athletics. India will always remember him as one of the brightest stars of sports. My family to him Sensations.”
