BWF World Championship 2021: India’s star female shuttler PV Sindhu has made it to the pre-quarterfinals of the World Badminton Championships 2021 by securing a resounding victory. On the other hand, young player Lakshya Sen experienced Kidambi Srikanth, and Satwik Sairaj-Chirag Shetty duo has also made it to the last-16 after winning their respective matches.

In a one-sided match, defending champion PV Sindhu defeated Slovakia’s Martina Repiska 21-7, 21-9. In this match that lasted only 24 minutes, the Slovakian player could not stand in PV Sindhu. PV Sindhu adopted an attacking strategy from the opening minutes. And took a 4-1 lead. However, Repiska also tried to hold on to the match by scoring two points. But Sindhu did not give them any chance. Sindhu was leading 11-4 till the first break.


After this, PV Sindhu won her first set, 21-7, in just ten minutes. The story of the second set also remained the same as before. PV Sindhu took a 6-0 lead against Martina Repiska in two minutes. And she was leading 11-1 till the break during the second set. World No. 7 PV Sindhu took 14 minutes to win the second set. He won the second set by a margin of 21-9 and won the match.

Kidambi Srikanth

Apart from this, Kidambi Srikanth ranked 14th in the world rankings, has also reached the pre-quarterfinals of the men’s singles. Kidambi was up against Li Shi Feng. He defeated the Chinese player by a margin of 15-21, 21-18, 21-17. Kidambi had to put in a lot of effort to win this match which lasted for one hour and nine minutes.


In the first set of the match, Kidambi was defeated by the Chinese player by 15-21. But in the second set, the Indian player made a spectacular comeback and won 21-18. After this, the third and last set was very tight. But Kidambi Srikanth won the match by 21-17.

Lakshya Sen

In another match, Lakshya Sen of India defeated Kenta Nashimoto of Japan in a thrilling match. This match, which lasted for one hour and 22 minutes, came out in the third set. Lakshya beat Kenta Nashimoto by a margin of 22-20, 15-21, 21-18. In the men’s doubles, the pair of Satwik Sairaj and Chirag Shetty defeated the pair of Li Xie Huai and Yang Po Suan of Chinese Taipei by 27-25, 21-15.
