Recently, former Indian cricketer Rameshchandra Gangaram ‘Bapu’ Nadkarni (Bapu Nadkarni) passed away. He was 86 years old. Indian cricket team came to the ground on Sunday with a black band on their arms to pay their respects to Bapu Nadkarni.
Nadkarni was a left-handed batsman and left-arm spinner. He played 41 Test matches for India from 1955 to 1968, in which he scored 1414 runs and took 88 wickets. Nadkarni bowled 21 maiden overs in a 1964 Test match against England in Chennai.
Bapu Nadkarni made his Test debut against New Zealand and played his last Test match against New Zealand. Nadkarni bowled 9165 balls in his Test career, in which he spent only 2559 runs.
