The BCCI has postponed the team’s Sri Lanka tour in June-July due to coronavirus. Board Secretary Jai Shah said on Friday that the Team India would not go to the Zimbabwe Round in August.
On the Sri Lanka tour starting on 24 June, Team India had to play 3 ODIs and T20 series of the same number of matches, while the Zimbabwe tour was to play 3 ODIs. The series between the two countries held from 22 August.
Outdoor training will do when conditions are safe: BCCI.
The BCCI has also said about the training of Team India that outdoor training will start only when the conditions are entirely safe. The board said that we are making every possible effort to restore international and domestic series, but there will be no hurry for this. We do not want the country’s fight against Corona to be affected in any way.
An Alternative Window Will Search For India-Sri Lanka Series
India has postponed the tour to Sri Lanka for the time being. Both boards are ready to play against each other according to the future tour program. An optional window will search for this. International cricket has been on break since 13 March. International cricket will return from a 3-match Test series starting from 8 July between England and West Indies.
According to Indian media reports, the Indian cricket team can tour Sri Lanka in August, if the government’s approval, will go on tour to Sri Lanka only after support from the government. BCCI gave this information to Sri Lanka Cricket Board on e-mail.
In an e-mail, the Indian board wrote – The FTP and the concerned board bound us. Still, in the current situation, before deciding on any kind of visit, we have to take care of the guidelines issued by the Government of India and the Ministry of Health.
Sri Lanka Team Visited India in January
Sri Lanka visited India in January this year. There was a three-match T20 series linking the two countries. India won the series 2–0. The first match where it canceled due to rain. On the other hand, Team India won the second T20 78 and the third match by seven wickets.
