There is not much time left in the IPL 2022 auction. In such a situation, all the franchises have started preparations in full swing. Before the auction, all the franchises have to make a list of four players, which they can retain. In such a situation, former all-rounder Irfan Pathan has made a list of players of the Mumbai Indians team, whom the most successful team of IPL can retain.
However, it will be a big headache for the five-time IPL champion team Mumbai Indians, which player to retain and leave their core group because this team has many such players like Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, Kieron Pollard, Hardik Pandya, Suryakumar Yadav, Trent Boult, Quinton de Kock, which he would like to keep with him again next season.
Irfan’s advice for MI?
Talking about the retained players of Mumbai Indians, Irfan Pathan said on the Star Sports show,
‘Ishaan Kishan can be the first choice of Mumbai Indians. For Hardik Pandya, you have to understand. There has been a significant decline in his form in the last year, so Mumbai will be aware of this. Many things come to mind when you have to pick the first four players before the auction.
Putting his point forward, Irfan said,
“I think he will take a long-term plan and think – can we invest in Hardik Pandya or Ishaan Kishan? Looking at the future, he might go with Ishaan Kishan and then with Hardik Pandya”.
On the selection of foreign players, Irfan said,
‘There will be Kieron Pollard in the overseas players, absolutely no doubt about it, at least in my mind. I don’t know what Mumbai Indians are thinking. He is the person who has won you matches continuously for so many years. His batting is still amazing. And when it comes to finishing the game and hitting big hits, he is still the power house’.
Pointing to the two names of Ishaan Kishan and Kieran Pollard, Irfan also mentioned the other two names. They said,
‘Pollard will be in the retained players. I will take Kieron Pollard and Hardik Pandya. I can also name the other two players. Rohit Sharma at number one and Jasprit Bumrah at number two’.
Telling you about the retain policy, teams can retain only four players. In which there can be a maximum of three Indian players and two foreign players. Also, the last date for retaining players is November 30.
